Time for some new stuff from the internet!

Many of us are fed up with the model of current social networks. As much as I find them akin to a sort of hive mind that is allowing us to share ideas through the world and without I wouldn't have the supportive community I benefit from, we're all aware of the derives of their centralized nature and that we're handlng them private data, all the while being subject to their whim. It was about time for a real alternative, not just another website nor a new app but ... a protocol! So, a base layer on top of which "clients" (apps) can be built. Unlike anything you've seen so far, nothing on Nostr will ask you for a email or a phone number and making you go through a registration process. Instead, the client generates you a private key (consider it like a masterpassword, to never, ever loose) and a public key (which is like a public identity you share), which is a very fast process. But above all, Nostr is censorship resistant; what you post there isn't under the control of any entity. If you're displeased with the client, just move to another one, all your contacts, posts and messages will come with you.

Steemit: The Blockchain based social network

Hi!

The concept and the reach of social platforms like Facebook are great, it does help me (and many others) to promote my art and I like the idea that it connects people and their ideas instantly throughout the world. I'd even go to say that Social Networks are the premices of a sort of global thinking system. But of course, we're deep into unleashed capitalism and this opportunity comes with a price. You may say: "you're using a service, it's normal that you pay. I answer: "No, they should pay me because my Data is mine, and they sell it to other companies". Altough I wouldn't mind paying a minor fee if the service was qualitative and not, among many examples, being threaten of shutting accounts or your posts being left unnoticed to most of your followers. To make it simple, I have enough of those "happy brave world" totalitarian policies.

That's why, like many of you, I look for a new platform. Lately I have discovered Steemit. Posting and interacting there is actually rewarded with cryptocurrencies. Another good thing is that it is using Blockchain technology which is on the path to "World Wide Trust", thus a way to protect your content. Of course it's still new and it needs a lot of improvement but I am giving it a try and you should do too!

It's been around a month an a half that I started to be active on Steemit, the blockchain based social blog that rewards you for your content. The platform has a very steep learning curve but when you share genuine content there's interest and reactions.
